What is Vickers? Or rather... Who is Vickers?

Vickers hydraulics are named after the man considered the "father of industrial hydraulics", Harry Franklin Vickers (1898 - 1977), an American industrialist and inventor from California.

 

Returning from his time serving in the US Army Signal Corps during World War I, he founded the company that became the brand: Vickers Manufacturing Company.

 

The company, later known as Vickers, Inc., multiple innovations in fluid power, including the first hydraulic power steering system Rexroth pump.

 

In response to its rapid growth in the automotive sector, as well as other industries, the company moved its headquarters to Detroit and merged with Fisher Body to form Sperry & Sperry-Vickers Corporation, of which Harry Vickers was president.

 

Many years and many successes later, Vickers was acquired and became part of Eaton Products Holdings in 1999.

 

Recently acquired by Danfoss, the Vickers brand continues to lead the industrial world with a range of high-quality piston pumps, valves, electro-hydraulic controls, cylinders and filtration products that benefit numerous manufacturers.
